Plain Washers

Plain washers, or flat washers, are simple discs with a central hole manufactured from carbon steel, stainless steel, or specialty alloys to match specific bolt hardness classes. They increase the bearing surface area to minimize surface pressure and prevent fastener heads from sinking into soft or oversized clearance holes. These components are ubiquitous in general mechanical assemblies for load distribution, electrical insulation, and preventing galvanic corrosion between dissimilar metals.
