Self-Tapping Inserts

Self-tapping inserts are rigid cylindrical bushings featuring specialized external threads engineered to cut their own mating threads into a substrate during installation. By bypassing the need for pre-tapping, they generate a high-strength, wear-resistant metal-to-metal interface in soft or brittle materials like plastics, composites, and cast iron. Their coarse external pitch and large diameter significantly amplify pull-out and torque-out resistance relative to direct fastening. They are widely applied in automotive engine components, aerospace panels, and consumer electronics to prevent thread degradation.
