Square Keys

Square keys feature an equal width-to-height cross-sectional geometry, typically sized to one-quarter of the mating shaft diameter. Operating as sunk keys, they provide a large contact surface area to efficiently transmit high torque while preventing relative motion between shaft and hub. Constructed from mild or high-carbon steel, these fasteners are primarily integrated into general industrial equipment and power transmission drives utilizing smaller shaft diameters.
